The world stands on three things: The Torah, labor, and loving acts of kindness.

(Pirke Avot 1:2)

Originally founded and incorporated in 2003 as Congregation Havurat Olam, Temple Or Olam is an independent Jewish congregation serving University City and the greater Concord area.  Temple Or Olam celebrates life cycle events, festivals, High Holy Day services, and active engagement in social action projects.  Our community offers a Religious School for children, b’nai mitzvah and confirmation training, and a range of educational opportunities for adults.

Dr. Barbara Thiede, Student Rabbi with ALEPH, the Alliance for Jewish Renewal, leads joyous, comfortable Friday night services twice monthly.  Congregants are encouraged to participate actively and enthusiastically in leyning Torah, leading service components, celebrating Jewish holidays, and studying Jewish culture, history, and traditions.

Temple Or Olam is a place and a space for growing Jewishly with ease and comfort, in the company of friends. We are easily located off I-85 on Exit 55, a short shlepp from University City, Harrisburg, Concord, Kannapolis, and Salisbury.
