It comes soon enough.

Mark Calendars for Havurat Olam’s Annual Shavuot Picnic

... at Sinai?

We’d like to see you for the annual Shavuot picnic.  We’d like to see each other.  But most of all, we’d like to see the kids.  All kids are permitted to bring their adults, who are invited to nosh and kibbitz. More importantly, we’d like to ask each one of you to bring a joke.  A Jewish joke.  A cute joke.  (Something the kids can hear, okay?  We’re not joking!)

We’ll also take the time for a very brief Yizkor (memorial) service: Please let us know if you have family members we should include on our remembrance list.

Bring anything you like for noshing, but we are allowed to remember that dairy is the traditional food for the holiday.  Blintzes, cheesecake, and… yogurt!

Friday Night Services

with preliminary Children's Service

June 17, 2005

First, a little good news.  McGill Baptist Church has generously agreed to allow us to rent space from them each month for our Friday Night Services.  Count on every third Friday, unless we tell you otherwise.

Second, more good news.  If your kids would like to steal our show, bring them to services at 6:30 this June 17, where the children will lead us (no kidding) in a Shabbat singalong.  Kabbalat Shabbat (welcoming Shabbat) will continue at 6:50, and services will get into full swing by 7 p.m.

Third, yet more good news.  But it’s a surprise, so you have to be there to hear it.  Listen up, Israel; this is fun stuff.

Please bring a leetle something to nosh at the oneg following services.  We will meet at MgGill Baptist Church in Concord (directions below).  Non-members will be asked to contribute to our rental costs with a $10 per adult donation.

Upcoming Summer Programs Include:

Hebrew for Hummers: A Summer Singalong

Bring your guitars, your tambourines, and your music books.  We’ll sing, we’ll dance, and we’ll make merry.  If possible, we’ll add an evening adult education program, but that means you will need to bring something to nosh, and then hang around after we’ve sung ourselves silly.  More on this event later.
