Volume II, Issue 10

Havurat Olam will celebrate its very first baby naming at this month’s Friday night service. And in order to set a good example for little Rivka, we have invited women to read from our Torah that night.
Remember the story about Balaam and the talking donkey? That’s our portion for this service, the source story that gave rise to the beautiful prayer Ma Tovu: “How fair are your tents, O Jacob; your dwellings, O Israel.”
Because we will have guests attending this service from Charlotte, we will meet at Central United Methodist’s Coltrane Fellowship Hall. Services will begin at 6:45 with the baby naming and will be followed by a sweet potluck oneg. If you can come, please bring something tasty with you!

Bring your guitars, your tambourines, and your music books. We’ll sing, we’ll dance, and we’ll make merry. If possible, we’ll add an evening adult education program with a potential surprise guest speaker (she’s a surprise), but that means you will need to bring something to nosh and then hang around after we’ve sung ourselves silly.
We’ll begin at 4 p.m. with our music-making, chow down on whatever y’all bring, and learn a little something. For this event, we ask that you RSVP to this address if you plan to come by this Thursday, July 7, as it is being hosted in a private home. Thanks!
