I went on a diet, swore off drinking and heavy eating, and in fourteen days I had lost exactly two weeks.

Havurat Olam welcomes you and your Jewish and Interfaith families at our Friday night services. This month, we will hold services on Friday, January 16th. It matters not one whit if you can read Hebrew or remember the melody to Hiney Ma Tov. It matters if you would like to be with us. So feel free to attend.
Services are followed by an Oneg Shabbat. Please bring a little something to nosh and the time it takes to shmooze a little. We will meet at the centrally located and fully accessible St. James Lutheran Church in Concord, which is situated on the corner of Corban and Union. Enter the parking lot from Corban and come in through the back entrance. Walk down the short hall and turn left. We will meet in the classroom on the left.
We ask you to arrive by 6:45 p.m. because we are a punctual crowd!?! Services begin at 7:00 p.m. and last one hour or less.
Until such time as we have a budget and have collected dues, we are charging $3 per person (children included) to cover basic costs of the facilities. We have a few extra prayer books on hand for guests, but those who plan to attend regularly should purchase one or more. Please contact our Religious Services Coordinator, Brian Cutler, if you are in need of a copy of our beautiful siddur, Likrat Shabbat, at:
And folks, it would help us so much if you could RSVP and let us know if you plan to attend! Just reply to this email, if you would.

The Olamettes have scheduled their monthly meeting for this January 18th at 5:30. There's a lot on their plate besides the extraordinary and tasty foods they bring: planning Purim, for example, and singing gooshy songs (just imagine them grouped around the piano, warbling My Yiddishe Mama and you get the idea). For directions to the next Olamette meeting at Barbara Thiede's place, just reply to this very email and your request will be processed immediately (or as close as we can get).

Folks, we have a board member who stands (or sits) ready to organize monthly get-togethers to take in a Jewish movie. Imagine a good film, a great discussion, and a lot of fabulous food. What more could you want during the blah winter months? Please let us know if you are interested in attending and tell us so - we need to see how many people would like to join us in theory so we can choose the right venue in practice.

Besides services, movies, and anything else we can put together, plan for sure on a Purim Party of magnificent proportions on March 6. And start thinking about where you want to be for Passover, because we plan to make sure that everyone on our list and in our area has a seder to attend.
Okay, now's the time for real action. Take a breath, reply, and let us know when we can expect to see you. We hope it's soon!
